On a greenfield site, north of Charlotte, NC, a community hospital grows out of the local landscape. Atrium Health’s newest hospital brings critical care closer to home for a growing population around Lake Norman. The project builds upon the successes of our former work with Atrium Health, leveraging established design standards and strong relationships to deliver an efficient, flexible, and holistically planned healthcare campus.

Inspired by the lakeside, the design strives for an experience characterized by natural elements and supporting a serene atmosphere. The earthy warm textures of Main Street and the red clay of the area evoke a familiar and welcoming experience, while cool color tones and shell accents evoke a tranquil spirit.

The project delivery utilizes a target value design framework with a prefabrication goal of 50%. Early planning activities resulted in millions of dollars saved, while prefabricated elements include exterior cladding, bathroom pods, and multi-trade MEP racks. The project was a joint effort with health planning leading in advance of exteriors and expression.  The result was a timeless design with an extremely efficient interior.

Design

The complete buildings, projects, or design work were the product of collective work from many people, however, all booklets, sketches and the website were of my own making.
More to Come

In an effort to continue to update projects I’ve taken part in, this website is a work-in-progress and will continue to be updated throughout the year.
